Cumberland Island National Seashore

Alexander Springs
Located in the Ocala National Forest, this recreation area everything a family needs for a day of fun in the sun. There are hiking trails, swimming, snorkeling, canoeing, picnicking, and more waiting to be explored.

Bob’s River Place
This privately owned swimming hole is located on the Suwannee River. It is decked out with tree houses, rope swings, water slides, floating rafts, splash pads, and so much more.

Buccaneer Bay at Weekie Wachee Springs State Park
This waterpark is located inside Weeki Wachee Springs State Park, and features two tremendous water slides: the Cannonball and Pirate’s Revenge flumes. This park fills up up early each day and the closes admission when capacity is reached.

Ginnie Springs
A great spot if you’re looking to swim, paddle or tube in the springs. You can drift along the Sante Fe River between access points and then take a short walk back to the main parking lot and general store. Ginnie Springs is known to get very crowded on the weekends and during holidays so we recommend you visit during the week.

Kelly Park is a county park, where you can swim, tube, and camp. Make plans to kayak from Rock Springs up towards Kelly Park. It’s here that you’ll encounter the Emerald Cut of Rock Springs, it’s stunning and well worth the paddle.

Royal Springs
This hidden gem in Suwannee County is one of our favorite springs to visit in the summer. It’s also easily accessible despite its remote location. There is ample parking and the walk to the springs is not far.

Rum Island Springs

Salt Springs is located in the Ocala National Forest. The swimming area has a cement wall built all around it, with stairs to enter the water. From up above you can see everything in the water, it’s so blue and crystal clear.

With an abundance of local State Parks and National Park sites in our area, there is no shortage of outdoor fun to be had. Lucky for us, there are also some local, county parks and recreation areas in North Florida where you can take the kids for a day of hiking, biking, and exploring.
7 Creeks Recreation Area
You won’t have to drive far for this outdoor adventure. Starting at the intersection of New Berlin and Cedar Point Roads and running east to Black Hammock Island, this Jacksonville park offers visitors 30+ miles of trails that could occupy days of hiking, biking, horseback riding and exploring diverse ecosystems, making each mile a new adventure.

Amelia Island Bike Trail

Camp Chowenwaw Park

Huguenot Memorial Park
Another favorite spot that sits just on the edge of Duval County. One of our favorite North Florida beaches, this beach is the only one in our area where you can actually drive your car out on the sand. Be sure to check tide schedules before venturing out, because you don’t want to get stuck.

Twelve Mile Swamp Conservation Area
