Landon Park: A San Marco Favorite

This quaint Jacksonville park is located just one block from St. Johns River and a few blocks from San Marco Square. From the unique playground equipment to the photo opportunities in the rose garden, Landon Park is a San Marco gem. Landon Park can be found at 1800 San Marco Blvd.

Refurbished in 2018 to become more accessible, Landon Park is adorned with both Kompon playground equipment and more traditional playground equipment for both younger and older kids alike. If, like me, you aren’t familiar with Kompon playground equipment, their structures are known for their desire to stimulate play with builds as unique as our children. Each structure aims to not only help children build confidence but to also enhance their development both physically and mentally. Kompon features at Landon Park include a shell nest swing, spinning “supernova” ring, “spinner bowls”, and a large climbing cube which is definitely my daughter’s favorite. Thinking we were only popping in for a quick visit, we ended up hanging out for five hours because this playground is that stimulating, even for a nine year old!

A note about restrooms: Landon Park does not have any public restrooms. Fortunately, with San Marco Square so close, we were able to use the restrooms at the Starbucks a couple blocks away – and grab a latte for the road!

If you can’t find her at the beach, she’s likely at one of Jax’s many parks or coffee shops sipping a matcha latte and chatting with friends. In the rare instances when she’s hanging out at home she’s either reading, meal prepping, or planning her next big outing.
