If you haven’t visited the Jacksonville Public Library lately, you might be surprised by what you find. Yes, there are books, but there’s also so much more. Across Jacksonville, our library has quietly evolved into a space where families connect, teens discover their path, and everyday moments turn into meaningful experiences. From storytime you can take home, to spaces designed just for teens, to tools that help preserve your family’s memories, the library is meeting our community in ways that feel both modern and deeply personal.

Whether you’re looking for something to do with your kids, a resource to support your teen, or simply a place to feel inspired, the Jacksonville Public Library is one of the most valuable gems in our city.

- Songs, games, and simple art activity ideas.
- Puppets or another hands-on educational toy.
- A complete flannel board story, song, or rhyme.
Everything is organized in a sturdy, easy-to-carry bag and can be checked out with your library card for free.

The Jacksonville Library has Programs for Every Stage of Life
What truly sets the Jacksonville Public Library apart is its commitment to serving everyone in our community. Whether you’re looking for baby & toddler storytimes that spark early learning or STEAM programs that encourage curiosity and hands-on exploration. There are teen events that provide safe, engaging spaces to connect and adult workshops ranging from career development to creative arts. The library has thoughtfully created programming that meets people where they are, and grows with them.

There’s a Space Just for Teens
The Jacksonville Public Library isn’t just thinking about kids, it’s intentionally creating space for teens to feel comfortable, capable, and connected. Teens will find dedicated areas designed just for them, part hangout space, part study zone. Whether they’re meeting friends after school, working on assignments, or just needing a place to land, these spaces offer both structure and freedom. The library also creates opportunities for teens to explore their interests in meaningful ways. Teen Labs (ages 12–17) is perfect for homeschoolers or curious learners. These sessions dive into STEAM topics with hands-on activities, discussions, and creative projects. The Teen Advisory Board is a chance for teens to lead, helping plan programs, vote on themes, and shape what happens at their library.

Preserving the Past: The Memory Lab
One of the library’s most unique offerings is the Memory Lab. This is a space where you can digitize old photos, VHS tapes, cassette recordings, and more. It’s not just about technology, it’s about preserving family stories, history, and moments that might otherwise be lost to time. For families, this is an incredible opportunity to turn boxes of memories into lasting digital keepsakes.

Plan Your Visit
At its core, the Jacksonville Public Library is about access. Access to knowledge, to opportunity and to community. It’s where a toddler hears their first story, a teen discovers a passion, and a parent finds support, inspiration, or simply a quiet moment. Whether you’re popping in for a storytime, exploring a new program, or finally tackling that box of old photos, the Jacksonville Public Library is ready to welcome you. Because here, it’s not just about books, it’s about building a stronger, more connected community.
