These cooler mornings and bright sunny afternoons are the perfect weather for visiting a local farm to go strawberry picking. Just under an hour away, Sweet Berries of Crawford Farms offers rows of ready-to-pick strawberries (and onions too).

Sweet Berries of Crawford Farms has Tons of Strawberries

Once you arrive at the farm you will see the fields tucked away in the back, perfectly lined in walkable rows. This year they planted 60,000 strawberry plants. Check-in at the farmstand to pick up your buckets to fill in the field. On our visit, each group was directed to their own row to pick from with access to either side of your designated row. We had so many big strawberries to pick, it did not take long to fill up our buckets.

More Than Just Berries

After filling your buckets with strawberries consider picking onions too! Located right past the farm stand there are a few rows of onions available to pick as well. There were many farmworkers available in the fields to guide you on proper picking techniques for the strawberries and onions. Abide by the signage and only pick the red berries.

The current price of u-pick strawberries is $4 per pound and this farm only accepts cash (no credit cards). On our visit, we filled two buckets to the top which resulted in 8.9 lbs of berries! Per the farm’s recommendation, I brought a cooler and flat containers to safely bring the berries home with us.
