If you’re planning a family trip to Orlando, Universal’s Islands of Adventure is a must-visit. Known for its thrilling rides, immersive lands, and some of the most popular attractions in Central Florida, this park blends adventure and storytelling in a way that keeps both kids and adults entertained all day long.

There’s Something for Kids Big & Small
Islands of Adventure is divided into themed “islands,” each with its own unique vibe. From the superhero-filled excitement of Marvel Super Hero Island to the whimsical world of Seuss Landing (perfect for younger kids), there’s truly something for every age and interest.

One of the biggest highlights for families is The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Here you can explore Hogwarts Castle, sip on butterbeer, and ride the incredibly popular Harry Potter rides. For thrill-seekers, Jurassic Park and VelociCoaster offer high-speed excitement. For younger visitors The Cat in the Hat and One Fish, Two Fish are ideal.

Located in Orlando, Islands of Adventure is about a 2.5–3 hour drive from Jacksonville, making it a great option for a weekend getaway. If you’re traveling with kids, consider staying at a hotel within Universal Orlando Resort. Many of these hotels offer perks like early park admission and complimentary transportation, which can make your day much smoother. We stayed at a Universal hotel and received complimentary Express Passes for Islands of Adventure and Universal as part of our stay.

Tips for Your Visit
Arrive early and head straight to your top-priority rides. The Wizarding World of Harry Potter and the more popular coasters tend to fill up quickly. Use the Universal Orlando app to track wait times, check show schedules, and even order food ahead of time. Pack for Florida weather, sunscreen, ponchos (for both rain and water rides), and comfortable walking shoes.

Dining and Extras
Dining at Islands of Adventure is part of the fun. From themed eateries inside Hogsmeade to quick bites throughout the park, there are plenty of kid-friendly options. Treats like butterbeer are a must-try for first-time visitors!
With its mix of thrilling attractions and family-friendly experiences, Islands of Adventure continues to be a favorite for visitors of all ages. A little planning goes a long way, and with the right approach, your family can enjoy a fun, memorable day packed with adventure from start to finish.
