Universal Orlando’s newest park, Universal Epic Universe, is one of the most exciting additions to Central Florida in years, and it’s absolutely worth considering for your next family adventure. Designed to be immersive from the moment you walk in, Epic Universe takes theme park experiences to a whole new level with incredible lands, next-level rides, and plenty of family-friendly fun.

What to Expect
Epic Universe is made up of several themed worlds, each offering its own unique atmosphere, attractions, and dining. Families can explore everything from magical lands inspired by beloved stories to high-energy areas packed with thrilling rides. While most attractions are geared toward older kids and teens, there are still some experiences younger children will love. These include interactive play areas, gentler rides, and character encounters. Just be aware that there are a LOT of rides where you must be 48″ to ride.

Planning Your Visit
If you’re visiting from Jacksonville, Epic Universe is about a 2.5–3 hour drive to Orlando. This makes it doable as a long day trip, but families with younger kids may prefer to stay overnight. When it comes to tickets, be sure to purchase in advance and consider options like Express Passes if your budget allows. During our visit, we splurge and bought the Express Passes and it was 100% worth it. We waited 5-15 minutes per ride and were able to do everything in the park in 1 day.

Tips for Families
Start your day early and head straight to your must-do attractions. Make use of the park’s mobile app to check wait times, mobile order food, and navigate the park easily. Bringing refillable water bottles, snacks, and cooling essentials (like handheld fans or cooling towels) is a must, especially during Florida’s hot months. There are refillable water stations EVERYWHERE throughout the park, even in the lines of rides.

Food Options at Universal Epic Universe
The dining options at Epic Universe go far beyond typical theme park food. Expect themed restaurants, quick-service spots, and fun treats that are part of the overall experience. Our kids had seen the Mac & Cheese Cone online, so we tried one. I’ll say that it was one of the best theme park food options I’ve ever had. If your family enjoys souvenirs, budget a little extra, this park is full of unique, immersive shopping opportunities kids will love.

Epic Universe is shaping up to be a must-visit destination for families looking to add a little extra magic to their Florida adventures. With a bit of planning, it can be an unforgettable trip filled with excitement, imagination, and memories your kids will be talking about long after you leave.
